62 Mango Shrimp Tempura Maki (6pcs)

Prepare a small dish of cold water. Place nori wrappers smooth side down on a cutting board. Wet fingers in dish and place a small handful of cooled sushi rice on the nori wrappers. Spread rice to cover the paper, leaving a 1" of paper at the end of the roll. Place even amount of shrimp, chives, cream cheese, and cucumber in a straight line.

Wrap the roll in the makisu with the seam of the roll facing down. Use your hands to apply even pressure to the mat to set the shape of the roll. Unwrap the roll and use a long, sharp, wet knife to slice both ends off of the tempura sushi. Cut the roll in half. Line the two halves up and then cut these into thirds.

Boil the shrimp for about 60 - 90 seconds, or until the meat turns completely white. You want the shrimp to feel firm. Optional: add a dash of lemon juice, salt, or paprika to taste. You can use all three or any combination if you choose.

Sushi Type 1: Makizushi or Maki Sushi (Sushi Rolls) Makizushi (巻き寿司) is the most well-known type of sushi. Maki means 'roll', therefore makizushi refers to rolled sushi. The sushi rice is wrapped in nori seaweed and rolled into one large log (cylinder), and then cut into six or eight serving-size pieces.

In a bowl or measuring cup, add 8 dried shiitake mushrooms and 1 cup water and let them soak for 15 minutes. Place a smaller bowl on top to keep the mushrooms submerged. In a small saucepan, bring some water to a boil. Quickly rinse 0.4 oz dried kanpyo (gourd strips) in running water and drain.

Instructions. Make the sushi rice: Cook the rice according to the package instructions, or use our Instant Pot Rice recipe (use 2 cups sushi rice and 2 ½ cups water). While the rice is cooking, in a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the rice vinegar, sugar, and salt and bring to a boil. Cook until the sugar and salt have dissolved.

Step 1: Make the Filling. Prepare the ingredients: Soak dried shitake mushrooms in boiled water for 20 minutes. Then chop the mushrooms, shred carrots, cut green onions, and cabbage. Also soak the glass noodles in boiling water for 2-3 minutes or until al dente. Drain well and cut into 1-inch pieces.

Remove the mat and plastic wrap. Cover the top and sides of the sushi with tobiko, gently massaging in so it sticks. Slice the sushi to serve. Boston roll is an incredible twist on maki sushi. Rolling rice around nori seaweed, shrimp and avocado creates a hearty filling, before topped with bright orange tobiko.

Poach the Shrimp. Once boiling, add white portions of green onions, shrimp, and a pinch of salt and pepper to miso broth. Cook until shrimp is firm, opaque, and reaches a minimum internal temperature of 145 degrees, 1-2 minutes. Remove shrimp from broth and reserve 1 Tbsp. broth. 5.

Cut a square nori sheet in half (restaurant-style) or quarter (more home-style) and place it, shiny side down, on your palm. Add a thin layer of sushi rice (about 2 tablespoons) to the left third of the nori sheet (if you're right-handed) and flatten/spread it evenly. Place some ingredients on the rice.

Sprinkle the toppings a pinch of sesame seeds, if desired. Roll up the sushi. Lift up the bottom edge of the sushi mat and carefully fold it over the fillings until they are enclosed in a roll, yet still leaving the top 1-inch of the empty nori exposed. Use the sushi mat to squeeze the roll in as tightly as possible.

Pat dry shrimps in paper towel and when they are completely dry, use a sharp knife to cut into small pieces, about 5 pieces of each shrimp. In a bowl, add the sliced shrimps, mayo, sriracha, shichimi togarashi, and masago. Mix thoroughly. Place a bamboo mat on a plain surface and cover with plastic sheet.
